Kagoo

The Cagou is a flightless, endemic bird of New Caledonia, and is the country’s national emblem. A silvery grey bird with a crest, which can only travel on foot, it spends its entire life on the ground, and nests under trees in the mountains. In recent years the Cagou has started to encountered some new predators.

In honour of this bird, we’ve decided to call this mini wing The Kagoo; introducing the opportunity of flight in order to explore the world, and other interesting and ambitious projects.

We have always been passionate about the mountains, and walking forms an integral part of our days out flying. When considering a mountain wing, we didn’t want to simply produce a lighter version of the Spiruline, as we wanted the wing to offer much more; with the emphasis on ease of use, a clean and easy line layout, and easy inflation.

At 18.5m2 the Kagoo is an ideal size for most mountain pilots. It performs well in thermic air, and the controls are gentle yet precise. Weighing only 2.9kg, it can be carried anywhere in the mountains, and is ideal for traveling. It has not been designed simply for fly downs, it makes the best of the conditions giving the pilot maximum airtime to journey at will. Equipped with trims for acceleration the Kagoo offers a good speed range, essential when flying in the mountains. Despite it being a mountain wing, the Kagoo makes a great leisure wing, fun to fly at local sites, and also for pilots wishing to fly with skis, not forgetting hike & fly competitions.

Technical choices :

Risers with narrow webbing (more rigid than dynema) enabling easy preparation and use of the controls.
-
Nylon fabric within the cells of the leading edge gives an easy inflation, and also saves weight and volume for easy packing.
-
The line layout forms a pyramid at the wing tips, giving a more compact feeling, making nil wind launches much easier.
-
Thicker dynema lines, which are spliced, enabling easy pre flight line checks, and quick preparation.
-
Optimal line layout for the best possible ratio of safety/performance.
